I am pleased to introduce you all to Qatar Central Securities Depository (QCSD), established by the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) as part of the reforms for the financial market infrastructure in the state of Qatar. It has been established for the purpose of risk minimization in post trade settlements.
The launch of QCSD is to provide world class and reliable financial infrastructure for all types of financial instruments in the Qatari financial market. The QCSD aims to create a cost effective post trade financial infrastructure wherein all types of customers can hold financial assets such as Treasury–Bills (T-Bills), Bonds, Sukuks in a safe and secured environment.
Central Security Depositories are of great importance because of their active role in risk management which reflects positively on the economy and strengthens the confidence of the financial sector within the state of Qatar.
I am confident that the QCSD will be able to perform a central role in the financial sector with distinction.
